The Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PM&DC) has issued a critical “Doctors Alert” regarding several universities offering postgraduate degrees and diplomas to MBBS and BDS doctors without legal recognition.
According to the notification, these institutions have failed to fulfill the mandatory accreditation requirements under Section 25 of the PM&DC Act, 2022. The council has explicitly stated that any qualification obtained from these unrecognized programs will not be considered or registered by the PM&DC.
Listed Universities Include:
- TIMES University, Multan
- NUR International University, Lahore
- Gomal University, D.I. Khan
- Sohail University, Karachi
- Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur

The Impact on Medical Professionals
Under Section 34 of the Act, the establishment of training programs or the awarding of medical qualifications without prior PM&DC recognition is strictly prohibited. For doctors currently enrolled in these programs, the outlook is concerning: the council has clarified that their training shall not be recognized, effectively rendering these specific postgraduate qualifications invalid for official registration.
Medical professionals and aspiring specialists are strongly advised to verify the accreditation status of any postgraduate program directly with the PM&DC before enrolling to secure their professional future.
