The PGMI Induction Policy Manual (IPM) 2027 follows CPSP rules for leave and breaks. The key point: any absence without prior approval is unpaid and may have to be made up at the end of training.
Regular leave
- 15 days of leave with stipend in every six months. It does not accumulate.
- Absence without prior permission is counted as absent and unpaid. If it becomes a training deficiency, you complete it at the end of training without stipend, and the case may go to the institutional disciplinary committee.
- For long leave or a break (Hajj, Umrah, freezing, wedding or maternity), apply at least 15 days before the leave starts. Leaving without approval of the competent authority and DNRP / CPSP is counted as absence.
Maternity leave
- Up to 90 days, as a break in training without stipend. The deficiency is completed at the end of training with stipend.
- Submit an application with a medical certificate from a Consultant Gynaecologist of your training institution (or a public sector hospital if there is no Obs & Gynae department) and an ultrasound report.
- Maternity leave is allowed once in FCPS training. A second maternity leave is limited to 45 days without stipend, and that deficiency is completed at the end of training without stipend.
Medical leave
- Submit with a medical certificate from a public sector hospital and proof of illness.
- It counts as a break in training without stipend; the deficient period is completed at the end of training with stipend.
- Medical leave can start without prior permission if the medical grounds and documents are correct.
Freezing (break in training)
- Allowed once in the whole FCPS training, on genuine grounds as per CPSP policy.
- No break before completing two years of training. After two years, a break of up to six months is allowed.
- Departure and arrival reports go to PGMI, forwarded by the supervisor and Associate Dean / Head of Institution. The arrival report must include CPSP approval; otherwise the period is counted as absence. Getting CPSP approval in time is your responsibility.
Who approves leave
| Type | Non-MTI institutions | MTI institutions |
|---|---|---|
| Paid leave | Up to 7 days at a stretch (15 days per six months): Dean / Head of Institution / Training Director | Up to 15 days: Associate Dean of the MTI |
| Unpaid leave, break, freezing, medical leave, leave over 7 days | CEO PGMI | Break / freezing: CEO PGMI |
All applications to PGMI must be forwarded by the supervisor and the Associate Dean / Dean / Head of Institution / Training Director (signed, stamped and dated). CPSP / DNRP approval is also required.
Rotation
- Mandatory rotations are allowed only in CPSP recognized units with CPSP approved supervisors.
- Order of preference: same institute, then same city, then outside the city.
- Outside the province: only if the specialty is not available anywhere in KP, with prior permission of PGMI and DNRP.
- The application must reach PGMI at least seven days before the rotation starts. Going on rotation before approval is treated as absence; if that period is accepted as training, it is without stipend.
- MTI residents: the Associate Dean can allow rotation within the institute. For outside rotation, the application is forwarded by the supervisor and Associate Dean with a certificate that the specialty is not available in the institute, plus an NOC from the rotation supervisor and the head of the receiving institute.
- Non-MTI residents: the Dean / Head of Institution / Training Director can allow rotation within the institute; outside rotation follows the same process through PGMI.
