PGMI First Fellowship Merit Calculator (January 2027): ETEA 75, MBBS 20, Periphery 5

For FCPS-II (first fellowship) induction in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Postgraduate Medical Institute (PGMI) Peshawar prepares merit out of 100 marks. The rules are in the Induction Policy Manual (IPM) for January 2027 induction onwards, Clause 7(a).

Merit formula

The entrance test is the biggest part. Three quarters of your merit depends on it, so preparation for the ETEA test matters more than anything else. See the PGMI entrance test pattern.

How MBBS marks are calculated

PGMI takes the percentage of each professional examination separately and then takes their average:

• Percentage of each prof = marks obtained / total marks x 100
• Aggregate = sum of the percentages of all profs / number of profs (4 or 5)
• MBBS marks = aggregate x 0.20

Example: 1st prof 70%, 2nd prof 65%, 3rd prof 68%, 4th prof 72%, final prof 66%. Aggregate = 341 / 5 = 68.2%. MBBS marks = 68.2 x 0.20 = 13.64.

The transcript / DMC must be issued or verified by the university. Foreign graduates without a detailed marks certificate (DMC) are given only 60% marks. CGPA / GPA is converted to percentage with the HEC formula.

Periphery / hard area service marks

• 0.5 to 2.5 marks for each completed year, depending on the area, as per DGHS KP notification No. 5327-32/DGHS dated 14 June 2021 (available on the PGMI website).
• A maximum of two years is counted, so the maximum is 5 marks.
• Less than 12 months = no marks. 12 to less than 18 months = 1 year. 18 months or more = 2 years.
• Only for Medical Officers who are servants of the Provincial Government of KP. No marks for doctors working in hospitals managed by public-private partnership.
• The certificate must be issued by the DGHS / Regional Director General. Certificates from an MS, DMS or DHO are not accepted.

Tie

If two candidates have equal marks, the older candidate is placed higher in merit.

Important points

• There are three test categories: Medical specialties, Surgical specialties and Dentistry. Check which group your specialty is in before the test.
• Open merit seats are only for KP domicile holders. Non-KP doctors can apply only on reserved quota seats. See eligibility, domicile and quota seats.
• No waiting list is kept. Once you submit your preferences, you cannot surrender the slot. See slot allocation rules.
