PGMI Slot Allocation, No Surrender and Already Enrolled Trainees: Who Can Apply Again (IPM 2027)

The PGMI Induction Policy Manual (IPM) 2027 has strict rules about slots. A careless preference or a missed joining date can cost you the whole session.

Slot allocation

  • Residents are selected on merit for clinical units in public sector teaching hospitals of KP and other PGMI affiliated institutions. The list of affiliated hospitals and units is on the PGMI website.
  • Seat allocation is done through PGMI’s official software.
  • No surrender: after you submit preferences on the induction portal, there is no option to surrender a slot under any circumstances. Any slot allotted is final.
  • No waiting list is maintained.
  • PGMI will offer induction to an applicant a maximum of two times. You cannot apply a third time.

If you are allotted a slot

Program Same session Next session
First fellowship Not considered for any other slot (including NOC based induction, slots vacated by resignation or non-joining, or new slots added after the preferences portal opens) Can apply. But if you are allotted a slot again and do not join, you cannot apply in the following session.
Subspecialty and second fellowship Not considered for any other slot Not eligible

Joining

  • The joining time (arrival at the allotted institute and Step-I and Step-II with CPSP) is given in the placement order.
  • If you do not join in time, the seat is declared vacant and offered on merit to applicants who have not got any slot.
  • On arrival, sign the training agreement and surety bond with PGMI. Government servants must bring an approved EOL from the Health Department KP, or the arrival will not be accepted.

Subspecialty slots

Subspecialty slots in Medicine and Surgery (Groups A, B and C) are first offered to specialty residents on the PGMI payroll who have completed Pre-IMM training. Remaining slots go to eligible specialty residents who applied in the current session and sat the ETEA test, and then to other groups as per policy.
