Admissions Open for FCPS-II (First & Second Fellowship), Session January 2027

The Postgraduate Medical Institute (PGMI) KP, Hayatabad, Peshawar invites applications from doctors holding Khyber Pakhtunkhwa domicile (or falling in the prescribed quota) who have passed FCPS-I on or before the closing date (first fellowship), and from those applying for a second fellowship, for FCPS-II training in CPSP accredited specialties at its affiliated teaching institutions.

Enrollment is against the available stipendiary and supervisory slots.

Admission schedule

  • Online application portal opens: October 23, 2026 at 3:00 PM
  • Online application portal closes: November 6, 2026 at 4:00 PM
  • Induction Appellate & Grievances Committee meeting: November 19, 2026 at 9:00 AM
  • PGMI Entrance Test: November 29, 2026 (time, venue and roll number on www.etea.edu.pk after November 21, 2026)
  • Choices/preferences portal opens after the final merit list; merit lists and seat allocation on the PGMI website and Facebook page

Important instructions

  • Read the Induction Policy Manual (IPM) before applying. Apply online only: mis.pgmi.edu.pk/apply (portal opened October 23, 2026; official notice), via www.pgmi.edu.pk
  • Application processing fee: Rs. 6,000 (non-refundable, non-transferable); a separate fee for each application
  • Incomplete or erroneous applications can only be corrected after paying a correction fee of Rs. 2,500
  • Upload scanned copies of original documents (not photocopies)
  • Candidates applying on a CPSP FCPS-I exemption letter must upload the official exemption letter issued on or before the closing date
  • Second fellowship candidates must upload the CPSP congratulation/election letter or official email
  • Seat allocation will be done through PGMI official software
  • Foreign candidates apply through their government to HEC Islamabad and pay USD 600 per annum in addition to the processing fee
  • Permanent address on CNIC must be in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (for married women, the husband’s CNIC address)
  • No TA/DA admissible

Induction criteria (IPM January 2027)

First fellowship (total 100 marks):

  • PGMI entrance test (ETEA): 75 marks. Three test categories: Medical Specialties, Surgical Specialties and Dentistry.
  • MBBS / BDS: 20 marks (aggregate of the percentages of all professional examinations, divided by the number of profs).
  • Periphery / hard area health service experience: up to 5 marks (0.5 to 2.5 marks per completed year as per DGHS notification No. 5327-32 dated June 14, 2021; maximum 2 years counted; less than 12 months = no marks, 12 to under 18 months = 1 year, 18 months or more = 2 years). Only for Medical Officers who are servants of the Provincial Govt. of KP, with a certificate from the DGHS / Regional Director General.
  • Equal marks: the older candidate gets preference.

Entrance test paper (MBBS): basic medical subjects 20%, General Principles of Medicine or Surgery 50%, English 10%, Bioethics 10%, Biostatistics 5%, Communication skills 5%. Medical group: Anaesthesia, Community Medicine, Medicine & Allied, Pathology, Psychiatry, Pharmacology, Biochemistry, Physiology, Family Medicine. Surgical group: Anatomy, Diagnostic Radiology, ENT, Obs & Gynae, Surgery & Allied, Ophthalmology. BDS: basic subjects 30%, clinical subjects of final year BDS 40%, English 10%, Bioethics 10%, Biostatistics 5%, Communication skills 5%.

Second fellowship (total 100 marks):

  • MBBS: 20 marks.
  • Post-fellowship experience (relevant to the first fellowship or the specialty to be pursued; less than 6 months not counted): 30 marks maximum. CPSP recognized unit: 6 months = 10, 12 months = 20, 18 months or more = 30. KP Category A and B health facilities: 6 months = 8, 12 months = 16, 18 months or more = 24. Other KP health facilities: 6 months = 6, 12 months = 12, 18 months or more = 18.
  • Interview: 50 marks. Absence from the interview means exclusion from the merit list.
  • Only one second fellowship application per session; there is no quota in second fellowship.

Eligibility and quota (first fellowship)

  • Open merit: KP domicile holders only. FCPS-I must be passed before the closing date; for second fellowship, the FCPS-II result must be announced on or before the closing date.
  • Reserved seats: Disabled 3, Minorities 3 (KP domicile); Armed Forces spouse 8, Civil Servant spouse 3, Gilgit Baltistan 5 and AJK 5 (non-KP domicile, spouse posted in KP; GB / AJK need a sponsorship letter); Foreign Nationals 3.
  • Trainees allotted a slot in the July 2026 session are not eligible. MCPS / Diploma trainees are eligible after completing training (see IPM).
  • NOC based induction is allowed for listed uninhabited specialties (KP domicile only), and 50 seats are reserved for selected specialties; see the IPM for the lists.
