CPSP Announces Discontinuation of MCPS Programs in Selected Disciplines

The College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) has officially notified that the Membership of the College of Physicians and Surgeons (MCPS) programs in Oral Surgery, Pulmonology, and Dermatology will be discontinued effective from January 1, 2026.

This decision was taken during the 3rd Executive Committee and 215th Council Meetings of the CPSP, as per Notification Ref # CPSP/Sec/2025/300 dated May 17, 2025. The notification, issued by Prof. Irshad Waheed (Secretary, CPSP), states that the competent authority has approved the change.

The discontinuation of these programs marks a structural shift in CPSP’s postgraduate training framework, likely aimed at revising or consolidating clinical disciplines under the evolving standards of medical education and specialization in Pakistan. Prospective applicants are expected to review their academic plans and consult CPSP for transition details before the cutoff date.

For official updates, the circular is available on the CPSP website and has been circulated to all concerned departments and authorities.
