CPSP Guidelines for Synopsis and Article Writing (Effective July 2024)

Synopsis Guidelines

  1. Prior Approval: Synopsis approval from REU is mandatory before article writing.
  2. Submission Deadlines:
    • FCPS-II Trainees: Submit six (6) months before IMM Examination.
    • Sub-Specialty Trainees: Submit within the first 6 months of the 3rd residency year.
  3. Plagiarism and AI Guidelines:
    • Plagiarism:
      • <19%: Accepted.
      • 19% or more: Returned once for paraphrasing; rejected if not improved on the second submission.
    • AI Tool Criteria:
      • <30%: Accepted.
      • 30–50%: Returned for paraphrasing.
      • 50%: Rejected.
  4. Study Period: Minimum 3-6 months or until sample size completion.
  5. Workshop Nomenclature: Now titled “Research Methodology Biostatistics and Article Writing Workshop”.

Article Guidelines

  1. Data Requirements: Only original articles with prospective data are accepted.
  2. Journal Requirements: Publish in HEC X, Y, W category journals or JCPSP-PG (dedicated to CPSP postgraduate trainees).
  3. Clinical Trials: Provide valid registration numbers.
  4. Authorship: Must be 1st or 2nd author; duplicate topics are disallowed.
  5. Plagiarism and AI Guidelines: Same as synopsis guidelines.
  6. Publication Deadline: Upload published articles (no acceptance letters) at least 3 months before the exam.
  7. Permissible Study Designs: Includes new designs: Comparative Cross-Sectional, Non-Randomized Controlled Trials, Descriptive Longitudinal.
