Postgraduate Entrance Test (PGET) by University of Health Sciences (UHS)

The University of Health Sciences (UHS), Lahore, has issued Notification No. UHS/VC-73-2026, dated 24 July 2026, laying out the schedule and examination pattern for the Postgraduate Entrance Test (PGET)–2026. The notification follows the Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Department’s letter SO(ME-I)-7/1/2026 (Level III PRP) and applies to admission into Level III Residency Programmes at teaching hospitals and institutions under SHC&MED, Government of the Punjab.

Test schedule

PGET will now be conducted twice a year: the first examination in March/April and the second in September/October.

For this cycle, PGET–2026 is scheduled for Sunday, 25th October 2026.

Examination pattern

The test comprises two papers:

  • Medical programmes: Paper-I carries 100 MCQs, is common to all candidates, and is based on the MBBS syllabus. Paper-II also carries 100 MCQs but is speciality-specific, conducted separately for Medicine & Allied, Surgery & Allied, Ophthalmology, Otorhinolaryngology (ENT), Anaesthesia, Radiology, Psychiatry, and Pathology.
  • Dentistry programmes: Paper I covers Basic Medical Sciences, and Paper II covers Basic Dental and Clinical Sciences.

Eligibility, merit and applications

Eligibility for appearing in PGET remains as prescribed by SHC&MED. Passing criteria and induction merit will be determined in accordance with the prevailing Residency Policy and the criteria notified by the Department.
