For many families in Punjab, advanced treatment such as a complex heart procedure, a bone marrow transplant or surgery for a child has meant long waits, travel abroad, or no treatment at all. Many of the specialists who can do this work are Pakistanis serving abroad. Punjab Health Connect brings them back, along with other international experts, to treat patients free of cost in public hospitals.
What is Punjab Health Connect?
It is a Government of the Punjab initiative that places internationally qualified specialist doctors and clinical teams in the province’s public tertiary hospitals. The Punjab Health Initiatives Management Company (PHIMC) runs it on behalf of the Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Department. Specialists are engaged on a locum basis under the Punjab Locum Hiring Act 2025.
Visiting specialists will:
- Perform advanced surgeries and provide specialist treatment
- Train and mentor local doctors and staff during their assignment
- Help strengthen departments in high-need specialties

How it works
- Register on the portal with credentials, fellowship documents and licensing details.
- Verification: PHIMC checks qualifications, experience and fitness.
- Scheduling: choose assignments at hospitals that need your specialty.
- Assignment: come to Punjab, treat patients and train local staff.
- Payment and reporting: payments are processed through the portal, and outcomes are tracked on a digital dashboard.
Why you should be part of it
- Overseas specialists: A short, organised visit of one to four weeks lets you serve your own people and train the next generation, with legal cover, verification and payment handled through one portal.
- Patients: All services are free. Treatment that once needed travel abroad may now be available in Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad and other cities.
- Doctors and trainees in Punjab: Learning advanced procedures alongside international experts at your own hospital is a rare opportunity. Ask your department about upcoming visits.
- Everyone: Share the programme with a Pakistani specialist abroad. One message could bring a life-saving skill back home.
