Senior Medical Officer (Gastroenterology), Aga Khan University Hospital Karachi
The Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi (Department of Medicine) invites applications for a Senior Medical Officer in Gastroenterology to provide and manage patient care while working closely with consultants and the care team.
Eligibility
- At least 2 to 3 years of relevant post-MBBS clinical experience, including at least two years of Internal Medicine residency training; or
- House job with four years of Internal Medicine residency training; or
- 3 to 8 years of relevant clinical experience for candidates with an additional diploma or MCPS
- ICU training or experience preferred (endotracheal intubation, central venous line and arterial line placement)
- Strong clinical judgment, crisis management, communication and documentation skills
Responsibilities
- Direct patient care and daily rounds under the supervision of consultants
- Procedures such as pleural biopsy, chest tube, central line and Joe Cath insertion, ascitic fluid aspiration, and management of medical emergencies
- Accurate documentation, patient and family counselling, and timely transfers as per policy
- Participation in Grand Rounds, Journal Clubs, quality (JCIA, ISO) and infection control activities
