Medical Officer (Mental Health), Aga Khan Hospital, Gilgit

Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan (AKHS,P) is seeking a Medical Officer for Aga Khan Hospital, Gilgit, to work with the psychiatry and mental health team.

Qualification

• MBBS from a recognized institution
• Valid registration with the national medical council
• House job completed

Skills

• Knowledge of psychotropic medicines, psychiatric emergencies and WHO mhGAP protocols
• Strong diagnostic, clinical and interpersonal skills

Duties

• Initial and follow-up medical and psychiatric assessments as per WHO mhGAP guidelines
• Prescribing and monitoring psychotropic medicines under a psychiatrist’s supervision
• Emergency care in psychiatric crises, and care of physical health problems in psychiatric patients
• Family psychoeducation, ward rounds, team meetings and discharge planning
• Medical records, CME, audits and community awareness work
