Pakistan and neighbouring regions suffer from recurring vector-borne diseases such as Dengue, Malaria, Leishmaniasis and CCHF. The Health Services Academy has launched the PGD-MEDVC to train qualified professionals to design evidence-based and sustainable control strategies.
Eligibility (Basic Qualifications)
- MBBS
- PharmD
- MLT
- BS (Hons) in Biological and Public Health Sciences
Course Objectives
- Fill the knowledge gap in medical entomology within the national context
- Provide trained human resources for operational control programs, research and teaching
- Provide technical assistance to government and stakeholders for sustainable VBD control strategies
Expected Outcomes
- Investigate the epidemiology of major vector-borne diseases
- Identify vector species responsible for pathogen transmission
- Plan, implement and monitor vector control programs based on Integrated Vector Management (IVM)
