MS / MD / MDS Admissions in Medical Institutions of the Punjab (JCAT)

Applications are invited for the Joint Centralized Admission Test (JCAT) for induction in MD / MS / MDS programs offered in various institutions of Punjab under the Punjab Residency Program.

Eligibility:

• MBBS / BDS from an institution recognized by HEC and PM&DC / PMC
• One year house job from a hospital recognized by PM&DC / PMC
• CNIC / Passport and Domicile certificate
• Valid PM&DC / PMC registration (permanent / provisional). Foreign nationals must have their own country Medical Council registration certificate / PM&DC / PMC

Entrance test:

• JCAT consists of 2 papers of 100 MCQs each. Paper-I (applied basic sciences) is common for all MD / MS specialties; Paper-I for MDS is separate.
• Paper-II (specialty specific): Medicine and Allied, Surgery and Allied, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Anesthesiology, Ophthalmology, Diagnostic Radiology, Psychiatry, Oto-Rhino-Laryngology (ENT), Dentistry
• Table of specifications available on www.kemu.edu.pk
• Passing marks: 60% (aggregate)
• This specialty specific JCAT is valid for the July 2026 induction. Candidates with a previous valid pass result of common JCAT (October 2023 onwards) need to pass only Paper-II with 60% marks.
• The pass result of new candidates remains valid for 3 years from the date of the test.
• The test will be held in Lahore and Multan centers.

Fee:

• Specialty based JCAT: Rs. 10,000
• Candidates with a previous valid common JCAT pass result (Paper-II only): Rs. 6,000
• Fee is payable at any branch of National Bank of Pakistan or through mobile banking (details on the portal); non-refundable

How to apply

Apply online through the web portal https://jcat.kemu.edu.pk from January 21, 2026: register with email and CNIC / passport, generate and pay the fee challan, select the specialty (cannot be changed later), fill in the online form and upload scanned documents. Admittance card / roll number slip will be issued online.

Last date: February 6, 2026 (till 03:00 PM)

Tentative test date: March 29, 2026 (final date, time and venue on admittance card)
