The World Health Organization (WHO), Eastern Mediterranean Region (EM/PVD), invites applications for a Technical Officer based in Islamabad, Pakistan. Vacancy no. 2604135.
Qualification
- Essential: Master’s degree in public health, epidemiology, immunization, vaccinology, communicable disease control, global health or a related field
- Desirable: first university degree in medicine (MBBS) or another health science; training in field epidemiology, polio eradication, immunization programme management, VPD surveillance or outbreak response
Experience
- At least 7 years in public health, including at least 4 years in disease eradication, immunization, VPD surveillance/control or infectious disease control
- International exposure; work with WHO, UN, GPEI or international NGOs desirable
Main duties
- Technical support for national immunization strategies and polio emergency action plans
- Routine and supplementary immunization, outbreak preparedness and response (polio, measles, diphtheria and others)
- AFP, environmental and VPD surveillance; data analysis, risk assessment and dashboards
- Capacity building, guidance and liaison with government and partners
Terms
- Temporary appointment, 1 year, full time
- Annual base salary from USD 86,027 plus post adjustment (about USD 2,488 per month for Islamabad)
